Extraordinary Guitar Instruction with Karl Wohlwend
Karl Wohlwend is Columbus, Ohio's leading classical guitar instructor. He holds a Master of Music Degree (M.M.) from the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied under renowned guitarist and recording artist John Holmquist.
Wohlwend performs throughout the United States and, as an expert teacher, is in great demand to provide classical guitar instruction for universities, workshops, and clinics. For more information, please see his Performance page.
Wohlwend currently serves on the faculty of The Ohio State University and Otterbein College, one of U.S. News and World Report's "Best Colleges". He also teaches each Summer at the University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music Classical Guitar Workshop, a position he has held since 1996. Wohlwend previously served for many years on the faculties of the Capital University Conservatory of Music and Ohio Wesleyan University. He is an Associate Coach with the Chamber Music Connection, teaching in the adult and jazz programs as well as in traditional chamber music track.
Karl Wohlwend's students have been awarded prizes in performance competitions, and many have gone on to rewarding graduate school, teaching, and performing careers. Wohlwend has served on judges’ panels for numerous events, including the American String Teachers' Association National Competition and the Music Teachers’ National Association National Competition.
